Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography “Step by Step”
The course covers the technique of performing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, from patient preparation for the examination and equipment to cannulation, papillosphincterotomy, and mechanical lithotripsy. The main indications and contraindications for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography are discussed, as well as possible complications and ways to prevent them. Mastery of highly specialized knowledge and skills increases an employee’s competitiveness in the labor market. Upon completion of the training, you will receive the following:
1. The ability to properly prepare the patient for the procedure, including explaining the process, providing information about possible risks and complications, as well as instructions for preparing for the examination (for example, diet, cleansing procedures);
2. Knowledge of various endoscopic equipment, instruments, and materials required for ERCP, including types of endoscopes, cannulas, lithotripsy devices, etc.;
3. The ability to correctly insert the cannula into the bile ducts or pancreatic ducts to perform retrograde injection of contrast agent;
4. Skills in performing papillosphincterotomy (a procedure to widen the lumen of the sphincter of Oddi) using various instruments and methods, if necessary for stone removal or improvement of ductal patency;
5. Knowledge and skills in using mechanical lithotripsy devices for crushing gallstones or stones in the pancreatic ducts;
6. Knowledge and skills in using mechanical lithotripsy devices for crushing gallstones or stones in the pancreatic ducts.
